Re: My budget LQ4/4L80E build!

i was actually surprised how easy they were to make. i used 2 cut off wheels and 1 sawall blade for everything. Started with 2 flanges, 2 collectors, 10 u bends, and 5ft of straight tubing. i have 1 u bend and about 4.5ft of tubing left. iim going to use that to make a fancy upper radiator hose. going to get my friend to tig everything and then keep working. I have exhaust paint and wrap coming tomorrow. I will not be getting the headers coated. they will be painted/wrapped/painted. same with the cross over and downpipe. I need my turbo to get here :rant:

finished the collector

and made most of the downpipe, starts below the header and goes about halfway down the tranny. cant do anymore on it until i get the turbo in

Are the pipes for your headers /downpipe/crossover stainless or mild steel? 304 stainless?

Looking good! Are you concerned about the passenger side header running so close to the coils or the PLASTIC oil filler cap (I know you're painting and wrapping them)? You are a pretty good fabricator for being so young, where'd you learn all this stuff?

all mild. stainless was alittle to much for my budget

Im not that concerned about the heat. if it becomes a problem i will move things around. I learned all of this stuff from just getting out there and working on things. This is the first turbo build i have done and the first time i have made header. for me there is in better learning than hands on learning.

i wrapped the driver header yesterday. today i hope to do the downpipe and passenger header. Also, i got the oil blockoff plate so i can run my turbo oil feed line. Hoping to start it this weekend:lol:

Re: My budget LQ4/4L80E build!

I am just concerened that all your nice work on the headers ,downpipe ,etc, will all rust out & deteriorate from the wrap.

at the rate he's doing things, if it all rust out and deteriorates...big deal. build another set while he's waiting for popcorn to finish poping :)
