How about a hydraboost system?

I like the hydrabooster - however i don't have the room due to the extra downpipe. I am afraid that i'll cook it.

I have also looked at just doing the wilwood master cylnder on the truck with no brake booster. The truck should weigh somewhere around 2400lbs and it already has the wilwood brakes front and rear.

how about this, 12 gallon fuel cell, 17-1/2"w x 16"d x 10" h, pn# 547-250-012-01 $112.99 from Jegs.

I want to use the stock filler and intank pump and a direct bolt in is nice too.

Here is the hydra boost system that I am using...I can wieght it to the stock one and this to see if there is any savings. I won't suggest going to a smaller booster or eliminating it unless you are light enough or are using a trans break or line lock (RWD trucks).

Here is what I did to my tank to keep the fill tube and pump in stock locations. I can race with 3 gallons and cruise with up to 15 gallons. While I had the lower ends cut out I had welded a better baffel system around the pump area to help the slosh proplem. When the gauge is on half I have 5 gallons in the tank.

The stock booster and the stock master cylinder with the porportion valve attached is 16#s.....The complete setup above is 25#s. There is a 3# difference in the master cylinder that I show in the hydra pic over the stock master cylinder. So the net difference over the stock is 6#. You can use a varity of master cylinders and probably even the stock one that would save weight over the cast heavy duty piece that I choose.

Also the hydra boost system will add additional weight in the hoses needed to and from the steering pump.

If you are looking for lite weight then the stock setup is probably the best setup out there as the smaller sized vacuum booster will not weigh much less as it is just an air reserve tank. Our larger size than most stock s-10 (and other aftermarket small tank boosters) helps in giving us more pressure as well as reserve air should there be a loss of vacuum.

I personally will add to extra weight because of the holding force of the hydra Boost at the line. For those that don't need this I suggest staying with the stocker.

If your are running a 422 cam or larger (and/or have low manifold vacuum) or have the suspension and tires to hold a high hp build then you are a canidate for an after market brake master cylinder or booster setup. Of course a trans break is always an option.

Thanks for the info! Have you tried a 2step to help build boost so you dont have to have all that brake?

Just weighed some parts.....tq converter cover with bolts is exactly 4lbs.
Fuel tank loop is almost 5# (I would only remove this with a CF driveshaft) I have one on order. Gotta get a 6.xx on stock motor ya know!

The Welds/Hoosiers I have took 80# off the stock wheel weight, FWIW.

Dig Any chance you have pics of your wheels ??

BTW - Hi

BTWW - Welcome to Chicago John

Yup. Here they are on Larson's Truck.

http://syty.nac.net/gallery/view_photo.php?full=1&set_albumName=album03&id=DSCN1345

There are a lot of different tire options if you want to go still lighter...
slicks would be 4-5# lighter per wheel.

Be advised, I think there's a rule saying you can't run slicks on the
front of a AWD/4wd vehicle.

What the world needs is a kevlar-belted lightweight radial...

13.2 gallon tank w/ efi - Blazer/Jimmy p/n 29-3007 $99.95

It looks like they don't carry a 13.2 gallon tank for the S10/Sonoma

This comes up $120 for me?

Does this use all of the stock items? Fuel sender, fill tube, etc.?

I think the stock in the Ty now is 20 gal, right?

TIA for any assistance.

Nick.........the stock Ty tank is 20 gal & the 13 gal unit uses all the stock stuff (straps, sending unit, etc....). However, what I know is mostly about the S10/Sonoma setup......not quite sure how a 13 gallon mounts in a Jimmy/Blazer. If they make it use the stock straps, they'd hafta make the tank skinnier, which would require a longer fill tube. This isn't the case with a S10/Sonoma as the tank is shorter front to back.

SyTyGuy, you still using factory fenders or fiberglass.

Stock fenders.........although I am contemplating going with a fiberglass front clip like Marty has for sale. Doubt I will, but considering it.

This is an interesting thread. I just picked up a pair of lightweight seats off Ebay, at what I thought was a reasonable price...$400 to my door. They are nice looking and weigh 14#s each.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2469450245&category=33701

That silly looking headrest piece detaches and comes right off.

I am also considering a set of used C5 magnesium wheels. They are 17x8 1/2 and weigh in a 16#s each.

How about a that lightweight battery, I think it's a called Dynabat??

Has anyone cut apart a stock gas tank and tried welding in some baffles??

Found a place online that sells 13 gallon tanks for pickups:

http://discountgastanks.com/search/...990/S15_(PICKUP)/13.2_Gal._Exc._4x4/index.htm

The only thing that bugs me is they state it's not for a 4x4. Not sure what that means. Here's a pic of it:

Hood, is that what yours looks like? Looks like the 20 gallon tank to me. I thought the 13 gallon tank didn't have the front portion of it? Maybe it's a stock photo used for all tanks. $98.95 with straps + shipping.

I didnt have time enought to read the whole thread, so sorry if i am throwing in a few things already mentioned.

Has anyone looked in the the timing belt coversion for the sb chev I am almost + that they make one specifically for the 90* V6 and it is a billet housing w/o a cover but requires a elec water pump which i am assuming is lighter.

second you have all the body panel options as far as Fiberglass or CF they hase to save a ton!

Fuel cell instead of steel tank, this will also help weight distribution.

There are a ton of good wheel companies, yes most are japanese but they make killer light wheels in a ton-o-backspace options I think that any spinning parts should be the first to be daelt with, because of the whole reciprocating mass thing. ie pulleys- does anyone make standard size alum? I am sure that all other have been mentioned driveshaft brakes ect.

if you are really into hack and slash there is a fiberglass dash thatll fit holding most size standard gauges (i prefer defi') it looks very modern and I still cant consider ripping out that 1of a kind dash

LOL and last but not least RIP OF THE DAMN CLADDING!!!! ok that is a little to extreme but hey thats got to be a good 30-40 #'s
