Code what?
How is it any different than an LS powered SyTy being "Big Gun" status?

He earned it, and deserves it IMO. But what would keep any other vehicle regardless of power plant from getting same status.

IMO, Big Gun should be for original SyTy's with whatever driveline, and any vehicle with a SyTy driveline.

I think the requirements need to be changed if he does not get the title.

Big Guns should be:
True vin SyTy or Sonoma gt
4.3 v6 platform engine
Any trans
Must retain awd

Accomplishing 10's with those 3 variables is setting a standard to be proud of. Using another vehicle or other engines is just taking away the honor from those who accomplished 10's with the v6 and awd.

So if he doesn't get it, revoke big gun from those who didn't earn the title with the SyTy or sogt with v6 and awd.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

The issue is, it really comes down to what each person thinks makes a truck a SyTy. Is it that it's a turbo V6 with AWD? Is it the cladding? Is it just the VIN, regardless of what the drivetrain and body now look like? Each person is going to have a slightly different line of where something is or isn't a SyTy.

From the other thread:
if you want access, you have to provide proof of running 10.99 or better with a SyTySGT of any flavor (V6, V8, 2WD, AWD, ect.) Video of the run is best. A timeslip will work in addition to info about your build and other proof to back up your claim.

It's not a SyTy body. It's got a 60° V6. It didn't start life as a SyTy, and it's not trying to be an exact replica of one. While it's definitely got SyTy spirit in it, it's technically not a SyTy or even a clone. Based on the current rules, which seem to basically just focus on the VIN and nothing else, it doesn't qualify.

I'm not sure how much benefit there is to actually being in the Big Guns Club, and I don't personally expect to find out. I think this is a pretty sweet truck for the sheer surprise factor, and about as close as you can get to the SyTy while still being distinctly different. I don't feel it meets the criteria, but I also see it as a bit of a DIY/custom SyTy, so I'm not against making an exception for it either. Because I'm split 50/50 and don't feel it really has much of an impact for me, I'm abstaining.

I understand that these are the BG requirements, but I feel that this is a poor representation of what a SyTy is. Just because it has the VIN, or the cladding, doesn't make it a SyTy. It is a SyTy for having a turbo, V6, awd...along with the VIN and the cladding. It's like saying a Grand National or T-Type is the same car with a 455 motor in it as one with a turbo 3.8. I voted for BMFB to get BG status. If you want to give it to SyTySgt's that are V8 and/or 2wd, I think he definitely deserves in...he is more SyTy than a 2wd V8.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

To me, what matters is the SyTy VIN. Lets examine the facts:
*No SyTy Big Gun is running a stock truck - Every one of them has changed things (some have changed a lot). Therefore, if you're going to let non-SyTys into the club, why would it matter how close their vehicle is to being a SyTy or whether or not they're using SyTy parts? I think you have to draw a clear line, and IMO, that's the VIN.
*Building a regular S or T-truck into a 10-second vehicle has a lot lower risk than doing it with an original SyTy. SyTys (typically) cost a lot more. Most of us could have easily built a 10-second Blazer with what we spent on our stock SyTys. Bastardizing a rare vehicle to make a race truck takes a little bigger balls and a little less sense. I know mine could never be returned to stock.
That said, I love BMFB's Blazer and he's a cool guy. I've met him and seen the truck in person. It's one of my favorite trucks on the site.

I love that truck and am dying to see a video of it at the track but as the rules state its not able to qualify as a sy/ty Big Gun so I voted no. But as was stated by I think Renz I would vote yes as an Honorary Big Gun member for sure  :2cents:

I am no expert but with a 1.75 60 foot and a trap speed of 107MPH the numbers don't add up.
Am I missing something? Dave Childress ran an 11.30 at 118 with a 1.60 60 with the Typhoon that I bought from him. Just wondering how this work out to 10.9. I do love the truck and think his work is awesome but It i vote no. I can't say enough about the truck. I am sure he didn't build it just to become a "big gun". He has one bad ass sleeper. He should be proud of the truck and what it can do.

Oh! That is bad ass. Congrats! I am jealous. Like I said I am no expert. Nice work. If you get the big gun status or not no one can question your accomplishment with this rig.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

Can I ask for clarification?

Are we voting to:

1. Make a one time exception for this member?

or...

2. Open up the rules to allow non-syty to achieve "Big Gun" status as a general rule?

This is my opinion, I am more willing to support a member that owns a SYTY and contributes to the community to achieve "Big Gun" status as a one off.

I would not be willing to vote to change the rules in general.

If we are not changing the rules I think that this is something that only current "Big Guns" should be able to vote on. I think they've earned the right as members of the club. They are the people that have put in the effort and sacrifice.

Changing the rules in general should be a community decision with more weight provided by the existing "Big Guns"

I say differentiate him from the others. Label them as "SyTy Big Guns" and him as just a "Big Gun". Or something.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

thats like regal guys being excluded from the turbo Buick boards privileges because they dont have grand nationals and their cars are blue.
he is not claiming to be a sy/ty - he doesn't want your prestige at all.

SO- any non awd and non 4.3 v6 isn't a sy ty because of radical changes.( it became something else)
SO by rational they CANT have big gun status anymore BECAUSE they DEVIATED the formula and foundation the vehicle was engineered upon.

bmfb- order typhoon stickers and put them on -call it a clone-AND CALL EVERYBODY fakes THAT HAVE ANYTHING EXCEPT A V6 AND AWD in a sy/ty Why?
because your staying just as true to the formula/concept as they are.

This truck is awesome!!
Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

does anyone read before they post? Doesn't look like it. The truck is fast as hell and i know he put a lot of work into it, i followed his build. I think it's kickass that he's running the times that he is. The whole point here is there were rules put in place (by this forum) that stated how you were able to get big gun status. The rule states that the 10.99 must be in a syty or sgt, which this clearly is not. Shouldn't even be in question....

Is a Corvette an S or T Series truck? Seriously, you don't have to agree with him becoming a big gun, but damn....really? .......that's the best you can come up with? Something so far out to left field its pointless?

Oh and is jericoJo your alias? Did you get your two votes in on that one?
