Gettin' WARM!
Let's see who else chimes in... with maybe somewhat less "vintage" parts... at a lower cost of course. I ain't made of money anymore....
I also wanna gauge the consensus of the Group about the notion of getting that "replacement" set from those weasels at Flex-A-Form for $375. First I gotta post the contents of our lengthy telecon, especially the tech-details.

Re: Singin' the Flex-a-Form Blues

When I bought my truck, 9 years ago. It seemed flex-a-forms were much more popular, as I research modifications at that time their seems to be bunch owners with broken springs. Some had luck some didn't problems as time went on that seem like it was rare. I couldn't tell if it was installation issue or not, some claim they were install properly but I also saw some of those owner have failure themselves. Now it seems like its rare for someone to use flexaforms.

My opinion of them at the time was they didn't seem to have a long life span. I would have liked the weight loss, but it wasn't worth the aggrevation of potentially have a broken spring. I bought Belltechs instead they are around $110 per spring last I looked.

I have original low miles springs but they are not FS. I like to keep my original parts because in my experience the original part that I think are worthless will someday be PIA obtain again. I dealt with this issue with one of my cars as it got older, so I hoard all my original Syclone parts.

I don't blame you.
Then too there's all those parts-matching restorers who crave all those original do-dads. They pay extra for that junk.

Personally, I detest returning any car to a stock condition-- part of my genetic composition! I'm just whining about stock springs because I'm concerned about...
Fitment,
Appropriate resilience & spring-rate,
Speed of installation, and
CO$T.

I'm going to turn up the heat on Belltech, who has failed to respond to THREE (3) of my inquiries to date; $220 (plus freight) for new hardware is better than $300 for 90k-mile beaters in anyone's book! What's with Belltech? Don't they wanna make money? Isn't Obama's Economy crushing more than just me?

I had an easier time getting answers outta "Mark" at Flex-A-Form!

Just order them from Summit Racing. They are probably the same price and may even be cheaper to ship.

I know....

And JC Whippany sells 'em even cheaper, which is tempting.

But, they are ALL LOWERING SPRINGS, which is not what I'm after. I went to great pains to restore that stock height... ride is much better and I don't bottom-out on steep driveways!
Why mess with success?

That damned Flex-a-Form is looking better and better all the time! This time, I'll leave those Roadmasters ON forever and get a comparable amount of life from the new, "improved" model from "Mark" who can also supply custom spring-rates from 210 (soft) to 250 (drag-race) and give me the ride-height I want....

Of course, I could get even better life at lower cost if I got a Belltech #5954 pair and cranked-up the Roadmasters to remove some of the drop...? What's not to love?

I'm still debating....

Stay tuned.

Just a li'l over 10 years old, but what's your point?
I should be grateful for what I got... shut up... quit bellyachin'... crap like that...?

I disagree.

Ok, I'll bite.

What is YOUR expectation as to the life of a spring such as that?

Re: Singin' the Flex-a-Form Blues

Gotta say the Belltechs didnt lower my Syclone much at all. Plenty of clearance and the ride was better than stock. I'd definitely go that route before stock or flexaforms.

11 years!

Bite that.

Don't taste so good.

I'm serious. You're upset that the springs failed after 10 years. How long do you expect a set of springs to last? If they are not meeting your standards, than by all means, speak up as you have thus far. I certainly won't be the one to tell you to stop. Lord knows I've raised my fair share of hell on this and other boards when products or services haven't met my expectations. Plus, the fact that the company won't respond to you, regardless of situation, is unacceptable in my eyes.

That said, I just want to get all the cards out on the table. What is your expectation for the life of the springs?

Re: Singin' the Flex-a-Form Blues

12 years....

Some digging on the Flex-A-Form site found this regarding spring warranty:

We warrant the springs to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the purchase, providing you cover the cost of shipping.

So your springs failed at 1000% of the warrantied time, and you're upset? Again, just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly here.
