Re: Sy # 2047
I just reread your whole build thread after reading your post in the dead or alive thread. Anytime we lose one, it's a bad day, but even more so with this one. Sorry for your loss!
Thank you for the kind words. It's been a long road to get this truck all together exactly the way I wanted it and so I'm very very sad to see it in its current state. Insurance has looked at it and declared a total loss.....I already knew it would be. At this point I'm hoping the salvage buy back won't be too bad because I would like to keep it, however I don't know that I will build another sy again for a very long time, if ever.
Most of the drivetrain survived, aside from my charge pipe that I was so proud of having built
I also feel very very horrible knowing I was part (even though it wasn't intentional) in the destruction of a very very nice low mileage truck. I keep thinking of all the things I could have done otherwise to try and save it but even if I had just run that animal down it still would have severely mangled the nose, however it would probably still be salvageable and would've gotten fixed. But there's not enough time in that situation to weigh out the options. I think in part, the right tie rod is broken and I'm starting to think when I swerved and got off the side of the road that it caught something and snapped, causing me to be unable to recover from the sideways slide I was in.
At some point I will post pics, but so far it's been too difficult to look at the mangled mess to even take pics.
Thanks to all who gave kind words and advice during the build , I only wish you guys could have seen this truck in person to appreciate all the hard work I put into it.
