Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Paul, would you be able to have more of those ac delete plates made? If so, what would one cost me?

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

After doing a bunch of tinkering I finally found the parts that will help me get the full potential out of my Holley Dominator setup. I wanted to run the Holley DIS (Distributor-less Ignition System) which includes 3x2 coil pack assemblies and lets you remove the single coil and distributor.. The system requires a cam and crank signal to work properly and will give you the desired sequential fuel injection and advanced ignition system operation.

First I tried a 1x cam sync distributor with the Holley 58x crank wheel and found out that the external crank wheel had too much stuff going on down below... So.... I bit the bullet and contacted Michael Noonan from EFI Connection and he set me up with his new cam/crank signal setup.

The new billet timing chain cover has built in LSX cam and crank sensors so no external crank wheels are necessary. Also included in the kit is a billet 58x wheel that mounts inside the timing chain cover and a modified Cloyes timing chain setup that provides the 1x cam sensor with needed data.

I also got the needed Mallory billet oil pump drive assembly, Holley EFI 3x2 coil packs, and all needed wiring to interface the system with the Dominator..

All the goods:

Stay tuned... Hopefully it will work well..

See ya,
(Distributor-less Ignition System) the hole system how much did it cost you .

Mike, I'll hit up the old man and ask... Stay tuned..

Oh... Sorry bro... The Holley coils and wiring is about $400, the EFI connection front cover package is about $800, and the oil pump drive is $125 with the steel gear.

If you have any more questions let me know... I will be doing a write up shortly encompassing the entire install, cost, parts, etc..
One thing to note.. This is going to be interfaced with the Holley Dominator EFI...

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Got the EFI Connection set-up installed today.. After messing with different crank gear settings I got the cam degreed with an intake center line of 114.5* (Cam card called for a 114*)

Here are some pics..

Enjoy!!

Degreeing the cam after finding #1 TDC:

Got the 58X wheel on and notice the 1X cam signal pickup machined into the timing chain cam gear:

Got the billet timing chain cover on:

Pressed the damper back on, checked that the 58X wheel is centered in the bore and set the pointer to #1 TDC:

More to follow...

I think I might be better off this time.. The truck is on all fours and looks complete from the outside..

It will only be at my parents house for a couple more weeks and then it will go back to my house..

I am also a lot more "In tune" with the law now and know what they can and cannot do

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Got some more work done on the Sy today...

Spent half the day looking for all of the parts and hardware to put it back together

Got my freshly sprayed non-ac heater box and non-ac heater core in today:

Also took out my old hydroboost set-up and got ready to install my new one (Thanks Matt for the backing plate ) with a trick adapter bracket from Davey Z to use a non-modified hydroboost unit.

Here's a difference between the two plates:

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Awesome work man! when do you think it will be road worthy?

Thanks Denny

I hope that it will be road worthy sometime this year..

I have most of the parts.. Just need to buy my intercooler, radiator, fuel pump, and all of my AN plumbing..

I think the most time consuming part will be all of the wiring that needs to be done.. Thank god Dave P will be leading that attack...

Stay tuned!!!

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

The non A/C heater system only has 1 line going from the heater box separator flap to the control on the dash. The side vents in the front kick panels are all manually operated.

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

I'll see if Holley will send you a big ass decal for your hood since they took 3 months to ship the rest of your stuff.

Seriously, good to see things coming along Paul. Your truck is going to be one to drool over.
