My brother just bought a 02 ss this week and thought it would "kill" my Sy, well there's only one way to prove it. he made the drive down from Denver, it's safer here with less people and traffic to street race. we ran them and I beat him both times, which he couldn't believe the boost launch on my truck and how he couldn't catch back up.

Are you kidding? That Cobalt shouldn't be much faster than the Camaro (stock for stock) at this altitude.

Tell the one with the Cobalt SS he has to beat the Camaro SS before he comes to you. It should be an honor to race you since you are top dog in the family, not something expected by any who think they are fast enough. They gotta climb the ladder ;).

x2 on t-bone, although his cobalt isn't stock. cai, and a pulley on the s/c. But I don't think the cobalt will touch the camaro, he has such traction issues with it and it needs an lsd.

I'm guessing your truck isn't stock or you guys didn't go a full quarter mile, because my friends '02 SS SLP runs 13.2-13.3 all day, and would give my stock Sy a run for its money any day.

Nice kill though.

And you are at sea level. Up here that SS would run 14.2. Just wait for NATS...

Gotcha, again nice kill.

Be careful, it's been awhile since I was able to rev out 3rd for any length of time, but I don't remember being able to go any farther than 105mph at the absolute most.

Hate to see you over rev it.:tdown:

It was on the first race that I got to 110 but that was in 4th, I watch my rpm's and the highest I let it get was 4600 which made me really uncomfortable. Thanks, I enjoy schooling people with my truck.

A SS on the street is no match for a boost launching Sy or Ty. Put some drag radials on the SS and make a run down the track and you'll get a real comparison. Regardless of that fact, nice kill! It's great whooping on the slower and less superior lol

Back in the day, I had a head/cam/long-tube equipped '99 Camaro SS with the 6-speed. Absolute BIOTCH to launch that car from a dead stop. It had the Spec Stage IV clutch, which was basically an on-off switch. It ran low 12.0x's for me with my usual 2.1 60-foot. I'm sure a good driver could knock at least 3-tenths off that time. I was just never any good with that clutch.

A lot of races for me where much closer than they needed to be or were losses because I couldn't launch the car...At least from a dig. Now, a 45 or 50 MPH roll would be a completely different story...

My boy is an auto and running 305 drag radials, I've driven it lots of times. Not saying it will ever launch as hard as my Sy but it sure doesnt get annihilated like I would like it to. Maybe it's just a freak, who knows, but he could run right beside my Z06 from a dig as well. Again you go from any speed higher than zero and were talking apples and peanuts.
