Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

My Dad helped out today and removed the A/C bracket and pulled the distributor and lower intake while I was at work. Next is renting a Power steering pulley puller to get that off, then Heads.

Yep I was surprised as well. I will take a look at the valves soon to see how they look from Meth.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

I had asked Julio to post some pics of his piston tops from his Mustang on the Buick forum. He posted the pics & his pistons were clean as well.

Meth cleans them well as does water injection.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

They are for aftermarket rockers.

Pulled the Pass side Head last night. Almost should've pulled the motor, but my Spare Ty motor is on my engine stand and I'm not in a rush anyways. At this point I can take my time pulling the Cam and such. I will be collecting parts soon and hopefully get some needed parts for Xmas

In the mean time, I can send out my Lower intake to Fivetodrive for a modded Vortec one and Powdercoat stuff.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

It looks like it may have been easier to pull the engine....jeesh, did they design it to be a PITA to work on everything on these trucks. I know how it'll look when you're done tho! Good work, keeps me motivated too.

Decided to take the Exhaust housing off to Port the wastegate hole. Pretty big mismatch going to the RPM Downpipe. Not done Porting yet, here's the Before pic.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Don't port too much in the wrong area, or else the valve could possibly get stuck.:2cents:

Also, by opening up your wastegate hole, your base boost pressure will drop some depending on how much you open up the hole.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Thanks for the links! As stated in the first link, Mike Lee said you can port the hole quite a bit, close to 1.5". I shoulda specified what Wastegate I'm running.

the nice thing about the housing is ,
its already marked, centered and measured where and how much to cut

dont go beyond unless your puck is bigger

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

I did some porting the day I posted the pic, but didn't take any progress pics. I will take some tomorrow when I work on it some more.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Here's the After pics of the Porting. As you can see, their is still some mismatch but didn't wana go to crazy. Also it was hard to make that flat spot round, which does't look like it'll affect much.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Hard to tell so I'll belabor the point anyways - but you want to make sure you have a nice smooth radius on the inside of that hole. The radius is as critical as the size of the hole.
