Thanks Justin. I made sure the radius was very smooth and a nice transition throughout the whole diameter of the hole.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Picked up a set of Ported Vortec heads and matching modded intake from Wade Segrest in Michigan. I will be getting the Heads checked out at a good shop soon before I bolt them on. Still deciding if I should leave them Red or paint them Black. Also, still debating on a color for the intake. BTW, these Heads/Intake were on Ed Hess' truck and went 9's.

Ed Hess Vortec Heads information
Casting # 12556140

Heads are modified with 7/16” Screw in rocker studs.

2.02 Intake 1.60 Exh Valves

Spring are 150 lbs seat pressure with a 370 lb nose pressure.

Heads are 60cc

I didn't know Vortecs made it to the 9's.Hmm, makes me feel like I wasted a lot of money on my build. I hate my Bowtie heads and I haven't even ran them yet.

Mike, I thought Jamie Hacking and Ed Hess went 9s on their stock block builds and Vortecs.....Those were both in Syclones though....

Looking good Sean. Can't wait to see some time slips......

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Hey one of those were on my sy :) i bought them from jwaller back in 02 or so, I sold them and the jwaller modded intake to Ed in 03-04. I know he had one head crack on him I believe he had the block crack too, so I believe he only replaced the bad one. He had a thread on it many years ago and he definitely had it tuned right cause he went pretty fast :)

My heads had 2.05 valves though so maybe he did change both out. Good luck with the new build!

I think Jamie Hacking had bowtie heads on his stock block 9 sec runs.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Few more pics of all the parts I've collected so far for the swap. Now I'm down to only needing Rocker arms and Cam. And of course getting some stuff Powder coated.

Thanks again Ken (Warmpancakes) for the polished Timing cover!

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Update on my Build. Got my 772s built with the parts off my Red heads (Valve Springs, Rocker studs). They also drilled holes for the Intake. Also installed new SS Valves that were .100" longer for proper height.

Installed my Double Roller Timing chain set (thanks to Nathan Reeves) for sending me a chain since I lost mine. Also cleaned the block and installed the stock Timing cover which was trimmed to fit over the oil pan gasket which was a pain.

Will be installing the heads very soon. I have every part I need, just need Roller Rockers and A2A IC setup.

Also intalled my Steve Morris cam. Can't wait to hear how it sounds and feel some power again :turbo: . Hoping everything goes well with this Heads/cam swap and get my 11 sec slip this year! Decided to swap out my 20 year old water pump for a nice shiny one.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

My Dad and I got the Heads on and Torqued. Tedious process and I'm sore haha. Starting to look like a engine again. Still waiting on some parts to get done at the Coaters, but basically have everything I need to finish this project.

Teaser with the Valve covers on. Still need to Polish them.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Some more progress today. Got the Harmonic balancer on with the Crank pulley, AC bracket also. Next is the Alternator bracket/power steering pump and hopefully get Rocker arms on to determine my pushrod length. The Lower intake is just set on the motor to see how it looked.
