I'm interested in a Sy kit also. Gas tank is leaking, good time to move it to the back.

Re: Typhoon Bolt in 4 Link Success

Been super busy with work and selling a house lately, as well as some personal projects i wanted to get out of the way first.

Right now I am working to bring the plasma cutting work in house to help keep the costs low. Hardman (the other half of project) is working on this angle also and him and I need to solidify that so we can start taking orders and make the first batch. For sure not lost I just want to be fully ready and prepared to deliver project timely once we are ready.

Once i get all the parts back off the test truck, get setup with weld jigs, etc and make the first real production unit we will get some pics up.

Taking pics of underside of a dirty test truck with hand made prototype pieces doesn't show much, even though it is fully functional and works extremely well.

OK, I just think most people would like to see photos so they could get an understanding of the basic layout, I'm sure everyone would understand that it is a prototype and not very pretty.

Re: Typhoon Bolt in 4 Link Success

it is triangulated setup. Lower bar bolts to stock front leaf spring mount, rear of lower bar bolts to a custom bracket that bolts on where leaf spring was. That bracket also houses the shock mount, with upper shock mount being stock location.

Upper bars are angled outward as they go forward. Bracket sandwiches between rear cover and diff to provide two rear mounts, custom crossmember bolts in where a factory one was riveted for the front pivot.

Getting geometry where i wanted things to be was the trick but we managed to get something very acceptable.

Project is not dead by any means, just the rest of my life has been keeping me busy.

What shocks have you been using for the rear on the test truck or more importantly what is the price? I could put this set up on the wish list. I love the difference in the JSM front suspension conversion I installed a few years back. Thanks for keeping the SyTyers happy with new part offerings. Also we all understand family, and work take a priority. I'll keep an eye out for updates.

Re: Typhoon Bolt in 4 Link Success

I have had a project ahead of production of this kit which is 99% done now, waiting on last bit. That project actually feeds into this one and brings some more capability in house. (cnc cutting of parts).

For the first run I will probably be looking for 5 typhoon owners that are ready to install NOW. This will make sure we have some clear instructions, no hickups with install, and get a few out in the open for feedback to others.

The test truck we have been running this in is going to the shootout with ford guys June 6th, we need to partially take that suspension back out for jig design, etc.

Look for a seperate thread to happen next week looking for 5 people that are ready to pull the trigger, with parts being shipped mid june.

Re: Typhoon Bolt in 4 Link Success

Soon, just got a lot of other life projects going and as most know this is a hobby for me nothing more.

Next two weekends I am out of town, hopefully shortly after that we can pull test truck apart for jig building, and first production parts.
