WWsy/ty.netD?

Re: WWsy/ty.netD?

Ok my idle problems are pretty much gone. After changing the fuel filter last night the truck seems to idle really smooth with an occasional hiccup.

Now my biggest problem is lack of power. And now I've noticed when in overdrive or low speed....when I barely press the pedal in it hesitates the entire time until I give it more gas. Then the boost builds it clears out and picks up.

Check engine light coming on? Have you reset the IAC? Is the tan wire under the pass side carpet connected? Timing set right? Oh yeah, there is a big ass port on the back of the throttlebody that should be blocked off.Is it?

Chip seated properly?

Sounds like timing or fuel pressure. Mine does it a little because the distributor is like 2-3 teeth off and compensated by the wires being moved too. Did you already set your FP? If so, what at? Timing could be off also.

No lights. Reset IAC.....no? Tan wire? Still have to check timing. Port on TB....will check.

I feel like I'm under investigation. But I like it!

I've never set the timing on a car so my dad is gonna have to help me there. And I checked the fuel pressure (before filter change) and it was at 38psi and 42psi WOT.

The big vac port on the TB is right next to the TPS,fwiw.

I don't know. I do know there is one under the front side that is unused. I believe it's a coolant in for the TP cars.

I have a squeak too. Sounds like the belt but I'm not sure. What else is up front that could cause this?

Re: WWsy/ty.netD?

The tensioner. Get a little STP belt dressing and spray some of that on there. Fuel pressure should be set at like 42 with the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator unhooked, at idle. That could be causing the slight hesitation at take off. :2cents:

Gonna recheck it tonite. WIth new filter. Gonna use some Seafoam on it right now too.

Wish me luck.

Re: WWsy/ty.netD?

Well tonite I poured some Seafoam in it. Took it out and ran it a bit. In D I mash the pedal and the boost builds up the truck gets louder but doesn't really go. Now am I looking at a tranny problem? The rpm's shot up as it down shifted but just kinda reved hard and didn't go any faster. WTH!

Fuel pressure seemed to be the same tonite. around 38 and then bouncing up to 42-44psi.

Sounds like you're running NA........Especially with your boost gauge jumping up that fast when just revving it while in park. Mine and I'm pretty sure other people's rides, the stock boost gauge goes up slowing. It doesn't immediately jump to 0 like yours does.

Well I'll have an autometer on it tomorrow.

OK.Well if the port I mentioned is not blocked you will have a massive vac leak.

Fan clutch.

make sure your torque convertor is locking, and that your transmission is full. low fluid and a bad convertor can cause low power output like you mention.

Re: WWsy/ty.netD?

Take al ook at this pic posted recently in another THREAD.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
The RED arrow points to the one mentioned earlier that needs to be plugged. The other one that I mentioned earlier in this thread is on the other side of the TB and points straight down. (I missed this one my first time through) The one coming out of the front near the the TB goes back to your heater controls inside the cab. (ps...you will need a check valve on it) For now you can plug both of them for testing.

If I'm counting right... That makes 6 vacuum ports on the intake.
  1. Brake booster
  2. Large one in pic above
  3. Large one below it to the PCV's
  4. Front of the intake under TB
  5. Bottom of the TB
  6. Rear of the TB
The diagram posted will let you know where each should lead. If you solve the problem be sure to get them all connected correctly before daily riving.

How do I check that? Brake + gas?
