I just happen to have a set of C6 Z-51 brakes sitting right here. The front weighs 23 lbs and the rear 20.5

Is that rotor, caliper, and mounting brakets??

I'd bet its just the rotors, they're some heavy chunks of iron.....

The brackets are 1 lb ea
The calipers are 5lbs on the front and 4 on the rear. (a little more than stock, but not that much.)

The rotors are heavy.

Z51 rear rotor 20 lbs
Rear caliper 2.5lbs
Bracket 1lbs

For comparison I weighed my front brake parts from Stoptech.

2 piece 355mm rotor 17 lbs
4 piston caliper 8 lbs
Bracket 1lbs

Re: Z51 front and possibly rear install info....

pretty much....had to do the standard cuts to make the LS1 adapters work. used a couple of shims (very thin washers) to make the caliper brakets "square" with the rotor.

i DIDN'T turn my axle flanges (as 4CD FED did) so, i may have some issues there.

i'll try to get these bled in the next few days and get some road time to test them out.

I am still waiting on my rear brake hardware :(

carstuff.com sucks

I ordered new front axles and what I hope is all the rear brake hardware I need.

Parts have been showing up 1 at a time for a week now and I still don't have everything I ordered.

Re: Z51 front and possibly rear install info....

does anyone have the part numbers for SS braided replacement lines for the LS1 rear calipers?

also, does anyone have the part number for SS braided replacement for the short rubber piece that goes from the diff to the frame?

thanks

Re: Z51 front and possibly rear install info....

Did you pick the rear brake hardware up at a dealership?

After 2 weeks of waiting for my rear brake hardware I called Car-stuff.com to find out what was going on.

They tell me "oh those parts are out of stock and won't be in for awhile..would you like for me to order them for you?"

Of course when I called orginally to place the order the sales guy said "oh those parts are in stock and will be to you in 4-7 days."

Car-stuff.com is the worst place I have dealt with online. They wasted 2 weeks of my time making me wait for parts they charged me for and then never shipped, gave me NO updates on my order, thier tracking system on thier website NEVER worked and straight up lied to get me to place my order with them.

I measured the stockers then went to my local Earl's dealer & he set me up. They have pre-made lines in various lengths that make it relatively simple.

Here is what I used:

2x 9977031-Square banjo
2x 977517-10mm banjo bolt
1x 63010120-20" drop hose. You could use an 18"
1x 989549-Brake adpater -3 to 7/16
1x 972054B-T adapter
1x 63010138-38" hose -3
1x 63010124-24" hose -3
1x 581531-Caliper adpater -3 to 3/8
1x H1457-Brakeline /frame clip
1x 177003-Crush washer

what else do you need?
A part number for what you used?

The GM dealership close to me tried to pull a bait and switch sales tactic on me years ago so I havn't been back since and the Autozone guys here have given me the wrong parts twice already when I went in to pick the hardware up.

I need the hardware to connect the caliper to the bracket and the pads to the caliper.

I have always known them as a caliper stud or bolt and a hardware kit.

Re: Z51 front and possibly rear install info....

sounds like you need a pin kit (with rubber boot and lubrication grease) and a set of "anti-rattle" clips. you should be able to pick those up from a NAPA or some other parts store.

looks like the NAPA part number for the pin kit is UP 83282 (probably need 2 of these)
and the clips/boots part number is UP 83254A $10.50 for both rear brakes

hope that helps
