Any Sy/Ty knowledgeable shops in the Raleigh NC area?

Guy's it looks like Turbo Time has left the Sy/Ty biz, is there anyone else in the area that knows anything about building / rebuilding a Sy? Poking around a few shops and while they are confident they can build one haven't had any direct experience with one. Any suggestions / recommendations?

What exactly are you looking to get built. Engine, transmission, suspension, paint and body. Stock or modified. What's your goal.

What shops did you talk to?

RPM and Mayhem are the two local GM shops that I'd trust. Not sure how much experience they have had with them...

Looking for a Motor build now, tranny next, pretty sure I know the route I'll go there though so I'm good there.. Paint and body I have covered..
I spoke to Jay at Mayhem, he's going to help me out but hasn't built a 4.3 before. I'll check out rpm, think I'm gonna go with boyettes for the build just trying to make sure I don't fubar something obvious.. 😂

Not a syty specialist but a good engine builder john west racing in raleigh. He built my 64 409.
Eric Bennett racing in wendel builds drag engines and knows his stuff too hes a gm service tech also may be a better choice 9193061839.
If thats any help.

Make sure which ever shop you choose, they understand it is a TURBO motor and do not let them raise the static compression ratio. I learnt that the hard way.

If you are not in a hurry, want good quality and fair prices, Jeff at Burkett Racing Engines in Dover, NC is very good. He does my engine building now. I have many stories I could tell about "master" turbo engine builders.

@ atkonkler, Yea McCoy has been around for a while but really want a local shop if possible,
@ 64impala, Yea John did some minor stuff to my truck WAY back in 97.. great shop, just wasn't sure that they really knew the Syclone drive train etc. Mayhem is a big GM shop(as mentioned) and I've spoken to Jay, who is willing to help, just not his area of expertise (two few cylinders)
@ Brassmonkey, I'll take a look into Burkett motors, thanks for the tip. Yes I hear ya on the Turbo Motors, and why I want someone that has some experience.. ;-)

Thanks Everyone for the tips / suggestions.

I have a stoutly modified SY in Raleigh and ran into the same roadblock a few months back looking for a good local tuner that could help me diagnose an ongoing A/F problem. Alas, I never found anyone either, and I haven't revisited the truck as a new build on another truck (mopar) has consumed my time. Will be interested to see if you find someone.

I'm less than 10 minutes from Grill 57, so I'd be up for a mini-meet at either location.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. My post was meant to get some SyTy'ers together and share information about people that work on SyTy's.
