i got a quote from waller and it was cheaper than 2500. i would be willing to bet the tranny last...you dont have to build 1000s of syty specific trans to know how to build a tranny and make one last.

Waller does offer an $1800 (or maybe it was $2k) option for a "basic" rebuild that's still an improvement over stock. The $2500 option it the "bullet proof" build that can take a little more abuse.

Dpw don't take any offense but we've been down this road before. We've told people about these transmissions and they don't want to listen. One too many times I've heard about guys giving their trans to a run if the mill trans shop and had them only last a few months. Not to discredit any shop but the Sy/Ty trans is not a run of the mill transmission. Put it this way.. I would not give a regular transmission shop my $4000 powerglide trans that needs to hand 1100hp because its not a run of the mill powerglide from an early chevy. I hope it all works out for you and if you do run into problems it gets taken care of. You asked for advice and you didn't want to listen so now it's all on you and you will catch crap for it. I'm sure if you do run into you won't be back on here letting us know! Lol good luck to you, hopefully it all works out! :tup:

no offense taken. i had a 4l60e built and warrantied by rpm up to1000hp and yes it did cost close to 5k. i will take my chances on this 700r4 the builder was more than confident in his work and the have their own race team which makes me feel a little better. i think we should start a pool.....

Well race teams use powerglides, TH350, and TH400 transmission and would never use a 700R4 so I'm not sure that offers any credibilty. As a matter of a fact my Race trans guy wouldn't even touch my Ty's trans due to the power I'm making and bad reputation of 700R4's. He knew it wouldn't last if he did it... Time will tell, we wish you luck!

IM in for 50 bucks! 3 months or 3 hard good hooking bost launches lol.I do wish you the best of luck,we have all seen this many times before that is why we are telling you this.it usually takes maybe two or three shit trans jobs before guys finally let a syty guy build a trans that will last.

You could put one in , but then you would have to loose out on the 4th gear for hiway cruising/fuel economy etc. Time will tellhow your tranny guy does. Hopefully his word is good.
