Re: Project Never Ends

UR50SLO, yes I will race you. You going to meet up with us in Bowling Green in a few weeks?

Yep.. count me in... I'll come down... What's the wager? Be nice now I'm only a V6. :)

I need to make my way down there anyhow and visit... I'll make a friday/saturday and help jeffers with the buick if it's still giving him fits.

ROFL....you guys crack me up. Both of you sitting there with no motor in your truck runnin' your mouth about how fast it is.

I knew Jeff's was out but what happend to the LS1?

Re: Project Never Ends

His Buick is in shambles. Needs A LOT of TLC to get it back to nice again (assuming it was that way once upon a time).

The LS1 spun a couple rod bearings I think. I forget the details, it's far over my head anyway :D :D

And Renz does make a good point. Stranger things have happened, although I'm first in with a "NOT IT" when it comes time to push that small house down the strip!

I think I can nurse the Buick back to life... I likey buicks...

That sucks on the LS1... damn... I like that setup!!! Hope it's healed quickly.

Re: Project Never Ends

Johnb had some bearing issues, along with a couple rods and crank that needed replaced.

I just beat the hell out of my main bearings, no rod or crank replacement though.

Re: Project Never Ends

I had a couple rods and one crank journal that turned blue due to heat. He said I should replace them to be on the safe side. Motor will be finished up next weekend. IT'S ALL GOOD ! ! !

So what caused the heat and what are you doing to prevent it from happening again?

Re: Project Never Ends

Jeremy is just full of good news today.

Hone job in motor previous was not greatest and reason rings didn't seal. Extra oil that got by is probably part of the detonation problem also.

Crank is bent, imagine that. So new crank is in order.

Its all money and investing in stock market sucks so why not throw it in the ty.

Low oil pressure and high RPM's :)

Its taken care of now. I just can't wait till I get to see what it really has in it. Its going to be fun.

You forgot poor machining and lack of bearing clearance.:2cents:

Should be alot better though. I know mary demands the best for her money.

Re: Project Never Ends

Block was picked up last night. Fresh hone (guy said old one wasn't that great and probably why rings didn't seal), align bore (said it was out more than I had measured even)

Hopefully that helps things seal and spin freely. The oil getting by was for sure part of the detonation problem I am sure.

Crank was bent but is very fixable via grinding, so that will save a new crank/balancing.

Again just trying to keep this motor going until a real dart motor can be built.

Moving targets strike yet again to push another project into the land of constant 70% completion.

Seriously, why do you need the dart block?

For Jeff, 70% is progress.

He needs the Dart so he can hang with the ricers that have Dart blocks in their Hondas...
