I made a IC blanket for my sy years ago & love it. Iv'e been making blankets for my I.C. Chiller & the related res. tanks used with it's kits for a while now. U can get a idea of what they look like @ decolabs.com I've been thinking about mass producing syty IC blankets for a while, but for some reason I didn't thing there'd be much intrest. Seems like I was wrong. The material I use for these was selected after testing many different types. I found others that were somewhat more affective but way more expensive. Based on what it cost to make the ones I've been doing, I might guess the syty 1s would be around $75.
I guess there is still no $$$ (or temp reduction) figures from the place mentioned earler? I can check again, but mine are reducing temps (as I recall) over 100f. This is real important to me cause with my chiller I'm trying to keep temps below 50f.
Are u guys planning on keeping the lower IC brackets ? The 1s that connected to the exhst. man.? I removed mine cause....... talk about a hot IC, that sure helps. I made some modified insulating brackets
to replace them & then found out I don't need any, even better. 8)
Based on the fact that lots of turbos have insulation on them I guess it doesn't hurt them , but I'd rather let the thing breeth instead of keeping all that heat in there. I made some loose fitting heat sheilds for mine out of some laminated alum. This sheilds the IC & other parts from the direct turbo heat but still lets it breeth.
